A Weekly Review Card for Primary Students: Progress and Next Steps - Blog - Adawa.at

A simple family review card for recording a student’s task, independent attempt, and next step.

A weekly review card helps a family remember what a primary student worked on and where help is needed. Keep it short and complete it together after a real attempt. You do not need to grade every activity or compare siblings.

A daily format:
- Day and subject
- One specific task
- What I tried independently
- Where I needed help
- My next step
Repeat the format for days with a study task. There is no need to add work just to fill an empty row.

Completed example:
Sunday, mathematics.
Task: solve three addition problems.
Attempt: solved two independently and stopped on the third.
Help needed: lining up ones and tens.
Next step: review an example with a teacher or parent, then try a new problem.
This describes an action; a broad label such as “weak at maths” does not.

During the session:
Choose a suitable time and a small task. Use the Study Session Timer if a clear start and finish help the student. For arithmetic, select suitable practice in the Random Math Question Generator, allowing an independent attempt before helping.

At the end of the week:
Ask about one task the student can now complete and one point that remains difficult. Choose one next step rather than making a long list of errors. If the same problem recurs, share a concrete example with the teacher.

For more than one child:
Keep separate cards based on each child’s lessons. Thakerly for families (Arabic) explains independent study profiles and saved progress inside the app. Information in a student’s profile can support the conversation alongside school assignments and teacher guidance.

Let the student describe their attempt in their own words. A few specific details about a question or a difficult step are more useful than filling many boxes that nobody revisits.
